Faery Bunting

So what do you do when you’ve got a bazillion scraps of shiny two-toned dupioni silk left over from the stuff you make for money? And you’ve been wanting to practice doing a narrow rolled edge on your serger, but only have the old standby you keep around to work with because the good serger’s in the shop?

I pondered about this for a while and decided to make some strands of faery bunting.

You usually see brightly-colored triangular bunting festooning outdoor car sales at dealerships, or decorating a toddler’s birthday party, but that’s all a bit too pat and uniform for me. Faery bunting should be all higgledy-piggledy, its components more random, and perhaps even contrary. Slightly disheveled. An after thought. An artistic touch that makes you realize we’re celebrating something, but you’re not quite sure what.

How about just celebrating the here and now? The richness of this life experience and the whole gamut between its highlights and low points.
